IT seems that the orignal owner had cobra pipes put on the bike and he basically left only 1 inch of the baffle in there ( pulled it today and measured it ).I'm recently purchased my 1995 Vulcan 800. I had no problems riding it back to my house and even letting a friend on it to learn how to ride. After that, we turned the bike off to chit chat and we couldn't get it start back up. On the 1500, the service manul says a special tool is need to pull the spark plug tubes, but you can fashion a tool out of the rear axle nut and unscrew the tube. I'd bet the 800 is similar.
